Toyota V6 Engine Service at TOP CONCEPT Philadelphia
This Toyota with the venerable V6 (1MZ-FE / 2GR-FE family) came in for engine bay service at our Northeast Philadelphia shop. Toyota’s V6 is one of the longest-lived engine families in North America — used in Camry, Avalon, Sienna, Highlander, Lexus ES, and RX from the 1990s through the mid-2010s. With proper maintenance these engines routinely cross 250,000 miles. Without it, they develop predictable issues.

What We See on Toyota V6 Engines
- Valve cover gasket leaks — common at 100k+ miles, oil drips on the exhaust
- Knock sensor harness — wires under the intake fail; symptom is reduced power and a stored code
- Timing belt service (1MZ-FE / 2GR-FE V6) — interference engine, factory interval is 90k miles
- Oil pump O-rings — slow oil leak from the front of the engine
- Coolant routing — radiator, thermostat housing, water bypass hoses all need replacement around the same age

Diagnostic Process
- Toyota Techstream scan for full system data
- Visual inspection of upper engine — intake plumbing, gaskets, harness routing
- Compression and leakdown if engine performance complaint
- Targeted repair using Denso/Aisin/OE-equivalent parts
